Volunteer & Receive Great Perks!
Volunteering with DC Bike Ride is a great way to give back to an amazing community while being a crucial part of the city’s only completely car-free social bike event. We have many fun volunteer activities taking place at the Start Line, the Finish Festival, and out on the course, before the ride and on the ride day.
Pick any volunteer shift prior the ride starting time and get a FREE Ride Pass to enjoy DC Bike Ride first-hand! Plus, all volunteers receive a FREE ride crew t-shirt, snacks, drinks, and more! Our volunteer program also offers special roles for groups and provides documentation for community service hours.
Our volunteer shifts include:
Packet Pick-Up - The day before the ride be the first to greet our riders and distribute rider numbers and give-a-ways.
Start Line - Feel the ENERGY at the ride’s Start Line and help set up signage, organize the riders into their starting positions, and assist with any late Packet Pickup and Information.
Mobile Mechanics - JOIN THE RIDE while also helping your fellow cyclists! Mobile Mechanics provide on-the-go assistance to riders who need simple mechanical help during the ride. A tool kit and training session will be provided. Great for experienced cyclists!
Rest Stops - You will be stationed with a team of volunteers at designated locations on the course to help hydrate and provide snacks (fuel!) for the riders. Everyone will be thrilled to see you! This is a great position for groups.
Stationary Course Marshals - There are points along the course that require marshals to help direct the riders as they pass. Must be vocal and able to get to an assigned location on the course. (“U-Turn Ahead” or “Sharp Left Ahead” or “Stay to the Right!) For the safety of the riders, must be age 18 or older.
Finish Line - Cheer the riders on as they cross the iconic Finish Line! You may also be providing water bottles, hydration, and snacks to riders.
Finish Festival - Bring the hype! Assist with the post-ride party including bike parking, handing out giveaway items, 2025 registration, and tear-down.
